A grand jury in Massachusetts indicted 14-year-old Philip Chism on murder, aggravated rape and armed robbery charges for the murder of 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer, an algebra teacher at Danvers High School.
The indictment accuses Chism, a freshman at the high school, of murder Ritzer on October 22, "sexually assaulting her and robbing her of her credit cards, iPhone and even underwear," NBC News reported.
"Armed with a box cutter, Chism raped Ritzer with 'an object' at the Andover, Massachusetts school then stole the items from her," according to the prosecutor, as reported by NBC News.
"The indictments... detail horrific and unspeakable acts," said District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett on Thursday.
Ritzer's throat was reportedly slit from the back with a box-cutter in a second-floor bathroom at the school, "as her body was wheeled out of the school in a recycling bin, dumped in the woods and covered with leaves," according to a law enforcement source.
Ritzer was found dead in the woods behind the school the next morning. The criminal complaint indicated that the victim and suspect knew each other, CBS Boston also reported.
Chism had previously pleaded not guilty to a murder charge and remains without bail, news reports said.
"We are devastated and heartbroken by the details of the horrific circumstances surrounding the death of our beautiful daughter and sister, Colleen," said the Ritzer family in a statement. "As a family, we continue to mourn Colleen's passing and ask that the media respect our privacy during this very difficult time."
Mourners had paid their respects to Ritzer at her funeral during a service at St. Augustine's Parish in Andover, Massachusetts on October 28. She had been an extremely popular teacher at the school who was loved by many of her students and peers.
