Panama Papers: The Clintons' connection to the massive tax leak

By

Hillary Clinton has always been vocal regarding offshore bank accounts, calling them outrageous tax havens for the rich. But the presidential runner has been linked to personalities that have numerous offshore accounts themselves.

According to the Daily Mail, Clinton's finance director during her first campaign for the Senate in New York, Gabrielle Fialkoff, is one of the personalities that have been using the Mossack Fonesca law firm to set up an offshore account.

As reported by the World Tribune, the Mossack Fonesca firm still remains active up to this date. The accounts of the Fialkoff's has been registered in the British Virgin Island by a Hong Kong consulting company. Gabrielle's brother, Brett, also acknowledge that the firm is active. Although he denies any allegations of doing or conducting business with the said firm.

Certain personalities linked to the Clinton's are Frank Giustra, the Canadian billionaire and longtime ally of the Clinton's; the Chagoury Group, an international developer based in Africa who pledged $1 billion worth of projects to the Clinton Global Initiative; Ng Lap Seng, a Chinese billionaire who raised the scandalous fund during the Clinton administration; and lastly, Marc Rich, the international fugitive who was pardoned by Bill Clinton before his final moments as president in 2001, as per the New York Post.

Hillary Clinton was quick at defending her name during the AFL-CIO convention, claiming some of these behaviors are against the law and anyone who is seen violating the law should be held accountable for it. She added that although these are legal, these counts are also scandalous at the same time.

The Clintons, however, were not named in the actual documents; but their ties to these certain personalities and their questionable accounts will be a negative subject on Hillary's presidential bid. Democratic presidential candidate and Hillary's opponent, Bernie Sanders, condemned the issue and called her as a wealthy Washington insider who is in the league of Wall Street fat cats.
