British Actor Jody Latham Will Stand Trial for Harrassing Ex-Partner

Jody Latham, the star of EastEnders and Shameless series faces harrassment lawsuit. The 34-year old actor pleaded not guilty for harrassing his former partner, Sarah Byrne.

The actor gained popularity for his role as "Lip" Gallagher in Channel 4 soap opera, Shameless, aired from 2004 until 2013. Jody Latham met his partner, Sarah Byrne, during the filming in the set of Shameless. Sarah played "Meena," the neighbor of Gallagher family in the fifth and sixth season of the series.

They both had a daughter and ended the relationship at the end of last year. The Mirror reported that Sarah Byrne filed a lawsuit claiming her ex partner and fiancee, Jody Latham, harassed her between February 19 and March 10 this year. Last month, Latham appeared in court and pleaded not guilty.

His trial is scheduled next month and to be conducted at Tameside Magistrates' Court on May 9, as Daily Mail reported. Regarding the scheduled trial, spokesman for Tameside Magistrates' Court confirmed, "He will appear for trial on May 9."

When Sarah Byrne and Jody Latham were still together, they had established a drama school in Manchester. In September last year, some of their students were performing at Lowry Theater in Salford. However, when the couple watched their students' performance, an unexpected incident occured which made the headline news.

According to The Sun, when the couple were watching their students' performance, Latham accused fellow theater goer of making too much noise when they got up to go to the toilet. Latham was then attacked and engaged in a fight with the audience. Eventually, Latham had to leave the theater after suffering cut to his eyebrow and nose, while Ms. Byrne was reported to be injured as well.

Jody Latham was born in January 1, 1982 and started his acting career in 1998 at one episode of Cops TV series. Later on, he made an impressive performance in 'When I Was 12,' a film for television. In that film, his acting had caught attention of audicence and critics alike, where he played a renegade accompanying Chloe, a 12-year old girl, played by Holly Scourfield to get away of her life and fled to Hastings.

Following his impressive performance in 'When I was 12', he received a lot of offers and played in many successful TV dramas. Up to now, Latham had played in five of award-winning drama series. Beside 'Shameless', that won the 2005 Best Drama Series at the BAFTA TV Awards, he also played in 'Clocking Off,' 'The Cops,' 'The Street,' and 'East Enders.'

His former partner, Sarah Byrne, was known for her role in a 2003 short comedy, Special Delivery, as Jessica. Afterward, she played in Mischief Night, a film comedy about a multicultural familes in England.

After last year's messy break up, Jody Latham is now facing a trial for allegedly harrassing his ex-partner. Ms.Byrne reported the incident occurred between February 19 to March 10. In his previous appearance in court, he had already pleaded not guilty for the accussation.
