'Batman Solo Movie' was recently confirmed at the CinemaCon held in Las Vegas. Ben Affleck, who starred as Batman in Zack Snyder's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', is set to return as DC's iconic caped crusader and may direct the film as well.
According to the Guardian, Affleck's standalone Batman film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) has finally been confirmed at the CinemaCon in Las Vegas by Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara.
Tsujihara said, "It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020... I'm also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie."
Affleck is currently DC's latest reincarnation of the caped crusader and was introduced into the DCEU in Zack Snyder's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.' Rumors have been flying that he is set to direct his own standalone film and it seems that Tsujihara has confirmed that, too, although, he didn't specify it.
According to Wired, it was also speculated that Affleck had been working on a script for months with DC's Geoff Johns tagged to pen the official screenplay for the 'Batman Solo Movie'.
Affleck's possible stint as director, writer and lead actor in his own film wouldn't come as a surprise since he already made a name for himself in the filmmaking industry with critically-acclaimed works such as 2007's 'Gone Baby Gone', 2010's 'The Town' and 2012's 'Argo'.
According to Screen Rant, Affleck also co-wrote the script to Gus Van Sant's 'Good Will Hunting' together with Matt Damon, where they won a Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay. The 43-year old actor is currently working on his next full-feature film 'Live By Night', scheduled to be released on October 2017.
'Batman Solo Movie' is an upcoming standalone film in the DCEU that will feature the return of Ben Affleck as the titular superhero. His character last appeared on Zack Snyder's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' alongside Henry Cavill's Superman and Gadot's Wonder Woman.
