Former NBA Clippers owner Donald Sterling finally lost his $1 Billion legal battle against the NBA, as a federal court judge recently released its final decision to dismiss the whole case which has been going on in over a year.
In a recent report from Eurweb, the business mogul reportedly lost his legal battle against the NBA in a highly controversial suit just after an alleged tape was released containing Sterling's racist statements against some of the players in the league.
According to the publication, Sterling received nothing from the suit that he claims he was released out of the NBA with no grounds since his previous actions were not proven to be true. Furthermore, Sterling insisted that the suit was filed because of a violation of antitrust laws.
Both the NBA and commissioner Adam Silver officially won the legal battle claiming that the sale of the Los Angeles Clippers was of legal grounds and within the rights of the then seller, Shelly Sterling, who also happens to be Sterling's wife.
The case, which was initially filed last year, as per The Guardian, had Shelly's lawyer Pierce O'Donnell claim that the dismissal of Shelly's husband "puts a merciful end to his quixotic litigation campaign over the sale for the record-shattering price of $2 billion," O'Donnel said in a statement obtained by the publication last March.
Furthermore, O'Donnel claims that his client is in defeat. "Ironically, Donald, in defeat, is the beneficiary of $2B, secured by Shelly in her courageous battle in doing the right thing to protect her family and ensure that her beloved team would be sold to a conscientious owner who would take the team to the next level of excellence."
Meanwhile, as Sterling remains to be silent of the matter, Eurweb reports that the decision of the federal court judge was in the belief that Shelly obtained the highest price she could for the sale of the Clippers and is therefore binding.
Furthermore, the complaint of Sterling claiming that he was injured with the result of the sale was is not commendable since the sale was for $2 billion dollars and that is said to be a lot of money for Sterling to complain about.
So generally, Sterling's case against the NBA and Silver was ruled out. Furthermore, The Guardian reported that Sterling received a lifetime ban to the NBA for his racist remarks. However, Sterling and his wife Shelly decided to retract their divorce early this year and remain married, the publication adds.
