Michael Boysen, a 27-year-old from Renton, Washington who killed his grandparents with a shoelace in March, entered a modified guilty plea to charges of aggravated first-degree murder, CBS News' Daily Blotter reported.

Boysen is due to be sentenced on October 18, facing life in prison without the possibility of release, news reports said.

He admitted on Friday that the jury at King County Superior Court will likely convict him for stranguling to death his grandparents Robert and Norma Taylor at their home in Renton, Washington, news reports said.

After Boysen committed the double murder, he was arrested three days later following a standoff at a Lincoln County, Oregon motel. A massive manhunt through several states ensued leading up to his arrest.

Prior to his release, Boysen had been in prison since 2006 on three robbery convictions.

Upon his relese, the Taylors picked up their grandsonn from a prison in Monroe, which is north of Seattle. They hosted a family "welcome home party" for him that night, King County Sheriff Urquhart said in March.

Boysen was reportedly addicted to prescription drugs and went to prison for stealing from his family and local pharmacies, local news reported.

Prosecutors declined to seek the death penalty after consulting with the family of the victims, news reports said.
