The web crawling superhero of New York is set to appear in the MCU to tell his story in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. 'Shake It Up' star Zendaya has confirmed to play a pivotal role alongside Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Moreover, the character's comic book artists have also revealed their thoughts on the MCU's version of his costume.
As reported by Mstars News, Zendaya confirmed in her guesting in the Ellen DeGeneres show that she will be starring in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. Without giving away details about the project, Zendaya revealed that she went through audition for the role like everyone and had to break down pre-conceived notions about her.
Zendaya has been hinted in reports to play the role of Michelle Gonzales but will not be the film's leading character or Spidey's love interest. Thus far, a very short Holland has only appeared in costume for the Captain America: Civil War. Although his role in the major rift between avengers is still uncertain, it was fairly pointed out in the trailer that Peter Parker will side with Tony Stark's Iron Man.
Spider-Man's short appearance in the trailer also gave a sneak peek at his costume which earned mixed reactions. However, despite the reactions on the costume, Yibada reported that director Joe Russo hinted at a possible costume change for the web slinger.
Furthermore, as reported by Newsarama, comic book artists have generally positive opinions on the costume. The character's eyes in the costume have also caught the attention of the artists as the shrinking eyes have been a common trope in the comics that were not incorporated in the costumes of the live-action iteration of the titular hero.
Plot details for the upcoming Spider-Man Reboot have not been released yet. Before starring in his solo film, Holland's Spider-Man will make its MCU debut in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. Jon Watts is set to direct the upcoming Spider-Man solo film, which is slated to hit theaters on July 07, 2017.
