Marvel Cinematic Universe is growing wider and bigger with every film that is released by the studio. With the opening of the phase three just around the corner, the upcoming Doctor Strange promises to open its doors wider to the mystical and magical side of the MCU.
Doctor Strange is one of MCU's phase three offering with Benedict Cumberbatch on board for the titular role. As reported by Ecumenical News, several fan-taken set photos have surfaced online some of which show Cumberbatch wearing the dark blue and red suit of the mystical hero while filming in London.
Cumberbatch is set to star alongside Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Benedict Wong as Wong among many others. Filming is still underway with some of the scenes shot in Nepal and England, UK.
The actor also revealed experiences while filming saying that he is aware of the pressure in portraying the character as there would be eyes who might criticize his poses and other movements. "It was like, okay, I've got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically," Cumberbatch said as reported by Design N Trend.
"I'm thinking, there's going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I'm still working on that. We haven't played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It's like anything, you just have to experiment", he added.
Furthermore, Cumberbatch's War Horse co-star Tom Hiddleston revealed that Cumberbatch contacted him upon getting the role. According to International Business Times, Hiddleston, who plays the role of villainous Loki in the MCU, said that although playing a role in the MCU has its challenges, he offered no advice for Cumberbatch trusting that he does not need it. He also mentioned his belief that the latter will do excellent job in portraying the role.
Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson, with screenplay written by C. Robert Cargill, Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer, and Jon Spaihts. Mads Mikkelsen, Rachel McAdams, and Scott Adkins are also on board for currently unknown roles. The film is slated to hit theaters on November 04, 2016.
