Sprint has finally rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on its Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ units via over-the-air (OTA) release. Sprint followed Verizon and US Cellular.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ units under Sprit have officially begun updating to Android 6.0 Marshmallow since last March 24. Sprint followed the steps of Verizon on its update on Galaxy Note 5 and US Cellular on Galaxy S6 Edge+.
For Galaxy S6 Edge+, the new software version now is G928PVPU2BPC3. For Galaxy Note 5, the new software version is now N920PVPU2BPC3.
Both devices receive Android and Samsung security patches on top of the Marshmallow features and tweaks. Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will last until April 8, 2016. Take note that it comes in stages so some devices might receive the update on a later date. Galaxy Note 4 is also live updating while Galaxy S6 pioneered Sprint's update since last week.
The device is yet to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow which brings known features like Doze, redesigned app drawer, runtime permissions, Now on Tap, direct share, simpler volume controls, Android Pay, fingerprint support and a lot more.
Marshmallow also comes with a new web browser from Samsung. The browser on Android got a new API which enables developers to add ad blocker extension to kill annoying ads. This feature will only be made available to Samsung phones and tablets running Android 5.0 Lollipop and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
To begin using the ad blocking feature of Samsung's web browser, install a content blocking software like Adblock Fast from Play Store. Adblock Fast is said to be the first free open source content blocking software for Samsung's web browser. According to its developers, this software lets web pages to load 51% faster than any other content blocking software. It is also available on other browsers like Chrome and Opera.
