The Apple company unveiled two new iPhones on Tuesday at a media event at its Cupertino California headquarters on Tuesday, with hopes the products will go on sale on September 20, NBC News reported.
The company set the release date for iOS7, saying the new mobile OS would be available free for all compatible devices on September 18, two days before the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are due to go on sale, news reports said.
"A few of you might have sen some shots on the web. And that's cool, because everyone is really excited about this," senior vice president of marketing Phil Schiller said.
The iPhone 5S is made by aluminum and comes in silver, gold and slate gray, with a fingerpoint sensor for security that Apple called the touch ID sensor, the product stipulated.
"You can simply touch your home button to unlock your phone," Schiller added.
The iPhone 5S also contains the "iSight camera" with a special flash designed to improve color balance. The iPhone 5C, meanwhile, will come in different colors, with a 4-inch Retina display.
The new model has a front-facing camera, which will cost $99- much cheaper than most models currently on the market.
Apple has also created custom cases for the iPhone 5C with a "soft-feel silicon rubber." Those will cost about $29.
The iPhone 5C will be available from all four major U.S. carriers, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, news reports said.
