The 'Jacob's Ladder' remake is an upcoming reimagining of the original 1990 psychological horror film directed by Adrian Lyne. It is currently in development with David M. Rosenthal directing. Michael Ealy is also cast the remake's latest main protagonist.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Rosenthal reunited with his 'The Perfect Guy' collaborator Ealy for the remake of 'Jacob's Ladder'. Rosenthal is also known for his work on the 2009 film 'Janie Jones' starring Abigail Breslin, Alessandro Nivola and Elisabeth Shue. He also worked on 'A Single Shot' starring Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy and Jeffrey Wright, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Meanwhile, Ealy's past work include 'Seven Pounds', 'For Colored Girls', 'Think Like A Man', 'Las Vegas' and 'About Last Night' in addition to appearing on '2 Fast 2 Furious', according to Variety. He also worked in several television series including 'Sleeper Cell', 'The Good Wife', 'Common Law' and 'Almost Human'. In addition to his film and television work, he also appeared on music videos including Beyonce's 'Halo', Mariah Carey's 'Get Your Number' and John Legend's 'Tonight'.

The original film was released on November 1990 in the United States to generally lukewarm reviews as well as box office success. It earned $26 million against a $25 million budget but went on to become a classic cult movie favorite.

Lyne, who directed the original film, is best known for his psychological thrillers and highly sexualized characters. He worked on several well-known films such as 1987's psychological thriller film 'Fatal Attraction' starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close, 1986's erotic drama film '9 ½ weeks' starring Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger, 1993's drama film 'Indecent Proposal' starring Demi Moore and Robert Redford, and 2002's drama-thriller film 'Unfaithful' with Diane Lane and Richard Gere. He is also best known for his use of natural light when shooting.

The original film told the story of Jacob Singer, a war veteran haunted by violent flashbacks and bizarre hallucinations prior to and after returning from the Vietnam War service. The character of Jacob was played by Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker, Tim Robbins.

According to /Film, the upcoming remake will be a modern take that aims to incorporate present-day situations and characters but maintains its original feel and dimension. It is safe to assume that the upcoming film will be as emotionally disturbing as its predecessor. It will also reportedly focus on the story of two brothers.

The 'Jacob's Ladder' remake is an upcoming psychological horror film to be directed by David M. Rosenthal. It will star Rosenthal's collaborator on 'The Perfect Guy', Michael Ealy. The original film of the same name was released in 1990 and achieved cult favorite status.
