Samsung Galaxy S6 G920F Finally Upgrades to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow: Update Guide

Samsung Galaxy S6 can finally be updated Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow using the CarHDRom custom firmware. CarHDRom brings similar material design of Marshmallow and many other features to enjoy.

Samsung Galaxy S6 units with model number G920F just got upgrade support for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow via CarHDRom. This custom build is vowed to bring Galaxy S6 the same visual appearance the official Marshmallow build has. Not to mention the features and tweaks that come with the update will be as much as enjoyable.

CarHDRom also supports TouchWiz launcher. It is already deodexed, zipaligned and pre-rooted making it stable.

Be reminded of the following warnings and preconditions before installing CarHDRom:

  • Make sure that Samsung Galaxy S6 has model number G920F. Using other variant may cause severe damage to phone. To know the model number of the phone, go to Settings > About device or About phone.
  • Install TWRP Recovery on Galaxy S6 here.
  • Back up all necessary data here, including apps, SMS messages, contacts, call history, APN settings and more. Samsung KIES can also be used for backup.
  • Connect the device to any PC using a USB driver. Download a driver here.
  • Installing the any custom ROM induces risk of damaging device. Neither this site nor developers of the CarHDRom will be held responsible for such damage.

Here is a step-by-step guide to install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on Samsung Galaxy S6 G920F via CarHDRom:

1. Down load Android 6.0.1 CarHDRom on PC.

2. Connect phone to PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy then paste downloaded ROM to phone's memory or SD card.

4. Switch off phone and plug it out from the PC.

5. Go to Recovery Mode by press holding volume up, home and power buttons.

6. Choose 'Wipe' to delete of data and 'Swipe to Factory Reset'.

7. Go to main menu and choose 'Install'. Choose the copied ZIP file on the phone.

8. Choose 'Swipe to Confirm Flash'.

9. Wait for the installation to complete.

10. When phone gets into any boot loops or other troubles, tap 'Wipe cache/dalvik' button.

11. Choose 'Reboot System'.

Go to Settings > About phone to verify update.
