The Ingham County chief prosecutor in Michigan was arrested on Monday over prostitution misdemeanors and pandering charges. The said prosecutor had been a serving for the Ingham county office for a long time, state and county law enforcement officials said.

According to Yahoo News, Stuart Dunnings, 63 years old, who had been the county's chief prosecutor for nearly two decades has been charged with felony pandering and multiple prostitution misdemeanors, a total of 15 counts.

Michigan Officials said, the charges stemmed from a Federal investigation in 2015 regarding human trafficking and prostitution. The investigations also revealed, in the year 2010 to 2015, Dunnings solicited prostitutes from websites paid for sex numerous times in three counties.

Court documents stated, the prosecutor faces prostitution-pandering charge after he allegedly induced a woman to become a prostitute and perform sexual acts with him for money, in exchange, to help her for a child custody case, Lansing State Journal reported. Charges were filed in four different courts in three counties. They include counts of willful neglect of duty for blatantly violating the law when he was a prosecutor.

During a news conference on Monday, Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth said, he knew Dunnings for a long time. "We've done some campaigning together. This was a huge betrayal of his trust, his oath of office, his service to the people of this county," he said.

The CBS Local reported, Dunnings has been an outspoken advocate and fighter against crime, according to the county officials. "It does not matter. If you break the law, there are consequences," Attorney General Bill Schuette said.

Dunnings' bond was set at $10,000 in 55th District Court, court records stated. He was arraigned by a Jackson County District Court judge after the local judges disqualified themselves. The Democrat prosecutor faces a sentence of as many as 26-1/2 years if found guilty of all of the charges.
