Samsung Galaxy S3 on AT&T Gets Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow via Custom ROM: Update Guide

Samsung Galaxy S3 phones on AT&T can now be proceed to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow as the famed CyanogenMod 13 (CM13) Nightly custom ROM has been made available to the device. CyanogenMod 13 Nightly brings the latest and greatest features of the device.

AT&T's Samsung Galaxy S3 phones with model number I747 just go software support for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow from CyanogenMod. CM13 Nightly will bring in Doze, customizable notification drawer, and a lot more.

Before pushing with the download and installation of CM13 Nightly, a few reminders and prerequisites have to be considered first:

1. Make sure that Samsung Galaxy S3 has model number i747. Using other variant may cause severe damage to phone. To know the model number of the phone, go to Settings > About device or About phone.

2. Root device here.

3. Install TWRP Recovery here.

4. Back up all necessary data here, including apps, SMS messages, contacts, call history, APN settings and more. Samsung KIES can also be used for backup.

5. Connect the device to any PC using a USB driver. Download a driver here.

6. Installing the any custom ROM induces risk of damaging device. Neither this site nor developers of the CM13 Nightly will be held responsible for such damage.

Here are a few steps to download and install Android 6.0.1 CM13 Nightly to Samsung Galaxy S3 I747:

1. Download Android 6.0.1 CM13 NIghtly ROM here and GApps here for Samsung Galaxy S5 G900F on PC.

2. Connect phone to PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy then paste downloaded files to phone's memory or SD card.

4. Switch off phone and plug it out from the PC.

5. Go to Recovery Mode by press holding volume up, home and power buttons together.

6. Choose 'Wipe' to delete of data and 'Wipe Cache Partition'.

7. Go to main menu and choose 'Install zip from SD card.'

8. Select 'Choose zip from SD card.'

9. Repeat process for GApps.

10. Wait for the installation to complete.

11. When phone gets into any boot loops or other troubles, tap 'Wipe cache/dalvik' button.

12. Choose 'Reboot System'.

To verify the update, to go Settings > About phone.
