Verizon Wireless has finally rolled out since early today the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to its HTC One M8 phones. The update is still live on Verizon bringing a bunch of the Marshmallow features and enhancements.
HTC One M8 phones under Verizon Wireless have begun receiving the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow today. Verizon stated on its support page that the latest software update will optimize performance of One M8 on top of the Marshmallow.
Marshmallow on Verizon One M8 comes with software version 4.17.605.17 and 6.21.605.3. As it normally goes with over-the-air (OTA) software updates, Marshmallow will arrive in stages which means not all phones will get the update at the same. However, it is expected to complete in less than a week.
Ensure One M8 is connected to a Wi-Fi network or a strong Verizon network to facilitate the update. Also, make sure to charge up the device's battery to full or plug it while updating.
Per Verizon's website, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will offer improvements in Google Now, volume controls, and a lot more.
With the new Google Now, this feature makes searching for information easier and more convenient. It can be used by just saying "OK Google" on the phone. Some of the things it can do for One M8 owners is to display the last five messages, launch apps or search within apps, make calls and text messages, and search Gmail.
For volume controls, they are now made simple and customizable. Customization options are available to audio, notifications and alarms. Marshmallow will also enable to share and delete screenshots as quickly as possible.
When the update arrives on the phone, Verizon reminded to earmark additional moment for apps to continue to download after the software update. In case it does not finish downloading, just refer to the Software Upgrade Assistant tool of Verizon for self-serve troubleshooting instructions.
Verizon is the second mobile operator in the US to release the official Android 6.0 update to HTC One M8. Sprint was first while T-Mobile and AT&T have not yet revealed plans for now.
