Winds of Winter will bring a great twist, says George RR Martin; Release date in 2017 very likely

By

Many were dismayed when renowned author George RR Martin announced that the next book in the series 'A Song of Ice and Fire' which will be entitled 'Winds of Winter' will not be released before the sixth season of Game of Thrones airs. However, the author dished recently that he has big plans and twist for the book which fans should ready themselves for.

Martin apologized to the series' fans for disappointing them with the delay. "You're disappointed, and you're not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me.", Martin said in his post. However, according to Inquisitr, Martin did not state a timeline of when fans can expect the book to be out although rumors suggest that the next book could be out by 2017.

But despite the delay, Martin assured fans that the long wait will be worth it. As reported by BreatheCast, Martin dished that the upcoming book will contain a huge twist that can only happen in the book and not in the HBO series since it involves one character that it still alive in the books but was already killed off in the tv show.

"It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, it's just being shocking for being shocking. But this is something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, or four characters involved... it all makes sense. But it's nothing I've ever thought of before," Martin stated.

Per Master Herald, the delay could be good for Martin as it would take the pressure to finish the book off of his shoulders. It would also mean that the seventh book to be entitled A Dream of Spring would be released long after the HBO series ends.

There are unconfirmed reports that Martin might be seeking for help from The Sandman writer Neil Gaiman as the two were reportedly spotted in a café. If such claim turns out to be true, then the book could arrive in shelves sooner, but until Martin confirms such statement, rumors about the Winds of Winter must temporarily be treated with a grain of salt.
