According to a new report by Governor Rick Snyder's office, Flint, Michigan's lead contamination is still high in some of the city's sites. Some of the sites still tested high on lead contamination as it exceeded the federally acceptable limits.
After testing 423 sites, the governor's office has found that 37 sites go above the federal government's action level of 15 parts per billion. According to Yahoo, the office noted that eight cities had lead readings of 100 parts per billion. Snyder was challenged by the public to resign as Flint's water crisis heated up. His government was questioned for the delayed action on Flint's water dilemma. The problem sparked outcry among activists who want him out of the office. Snyder is scheduled to appear before the U.S. congressional committee on March 17.
MLive reported that lead contamination is still a big problem in some of Flint residents after conducting the latest testing. Health officials claimed that 63 children ages 18 and below tested positive for high lead concentration on their blood. They are also weighing on the probability that lead poisoning has direct link to miscarriages and elevated blood levels in the city.
Health experts claimed that they are working on solving lead contamination across Michigan. They said that they are adding anti-corrosive agents into the water to retouch pipes to avoid leaking of lead into the water.
