Andrea Sneiderman, the Decatur Georgia woman accused of lying to investigators about the death of her husband Rusty, was convicted of perjury and several other counts on Monday, as reported by the Associated Press.
Rusty Sneiderman was shot in November 2010 outside a suburban Atlanta preschool. Her former boss Hemy Neuman was convicted in March 2012, but was found mentally ill. A jury determined that Sneiderman had been lying under oath during Neuman's trial, and the 13-count indictment included her making false statements to authorities.
All total, Sneiderman was found guilty of four counts of perjury, hindering the apprehension of a criminal, concealment of material facts, and three counts of giving false statements. She was found not guilty of three counts of perjury and one count of giving a false statement, the AP reported.
Prosecutors said that Sneiderman had a romantic Neuman, and lying to authorities about it. During the trial, prosecutors replayed video and audio clips of Sneiderman's interviews with police investigation and testimony during the Neuman's trial, suggesting that that they did not match the witness testimony and documents, proving that she lied to police.
""Once you actually got to looking at the info and what she said in the Hemy Neuman trial, she basically pretty much committed perjury," one juror said.
The 37-year-old was arrested last August after prosecutors accused her of helping to orchestrate the killing of her husband. She spent much of the last year under house arrest.
