Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Roll Out For Telus Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 Scheduled On March 9

Although it has been months since the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update has been officially released, there are still some carriers that are yet to launch the new firmware to its patrons. Telus, being one, has fortunately made progress to its Android M rollout. The Canadian carrier is said to be rolling out the new Android version to its Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 6 on March 9.

According to Tech Times, Samsung has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge since mid-February, but individual carriers are yet to confirm the software update release schedule for its own versions of the Samsung handsets.

The South Korean tech giant has not publicized the Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll out timeframe for other Galaxy devices. Based on the company's statement, it is planning to provide the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update starting with Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on February 15, 2016, and other Galaxy smartphones will soon follow trail.

The Canadian carrier Telus has laid down an estimated roadmap about its plans on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release to its version of smartphones. According to the carrier, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 owners could expect to obtain the new operating system starting March 9.

Yibada noted that the Nexus 6P that has arrived running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be receiving a security update on March 9 as well. Aside from the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5, the Canadian carrier is also bound to roll out the Marshmallow 6.0 software update for the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge on March 16. However, owners of Samsung Galaxy S6 will not get the Android Marshmallow update until April 13.

As for the new features and enhancements that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow carries, Neurogadget stated that the new version will extend the battery life of the abovementioned devices. This firmware also brings better app permissions and a better fingerprint support.

Aside from these features, Samsung Electronics has added its own changes to this OS. In a statement, it has announced that "With the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Samsung's Galaxy devices, a whole host of new and improved features are now available. Two of the most useful are Samsung Internet 4.0, which offers better privacy and functionality from the native Samsung browser than ever, and Cross App, which lets people access their most useful apps while inside the messaging program."

For the owners of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware is just a week and days away. Hopefully, other Galaxy devices will receive the Marshmallow firmware software really soon.
