Recent spoilers reveal that Hakeem is assuming his father's position in Empire Entertainment under the influence of her wife Camilla who has been planning revenge all along. After Camilla and Mimi steal the company from Lucious, they also wage war against Camilla.
According to Enumerical News, Lucious is determined to win his company back. He enlists a help from his ex-wife Cookie. Although their relationship did not work well, both still find each other's shoulders. In fact, they shared embrace in the released trailer for season 2B after also Laz has been removed from Cookie's life. But the possible reconciliation for them is yet to be known. The thing is they have the special bond that only both of them can understand.
Meanwhile, Hakeem and Camilla's son, Jamal, is getting closer to Skye. Although Jamay is vocal about his sexuality as gay, it seems that he can still fall in love with a girl. In fact, viewers saw the great chemistry between the two characters, and it actually earned them followers.
In an interview with Variety, 'Empire' showrunner Ilene Chaiken said that the intimate bond between Jamal and Skye features the sexual fluidity that can happen to gay people and that there is no need for Skye to "fix" Jamal because he is clearly a gay.
