Disney has green lit another round of adventure for Anna and Queen Elsa for Frozen 2. While official plot details about the sequel are currently under wraps, several plot theories and rumors suggest that Rapunzel and Elsa could be revealed as twins.
The sequel to the 2013 animated feature is currently underway, and rumors suggest that Anna and Elsa could be revealed as sisters not related by blood. As reported by Christian Today, the rumor mill revealed that Rapunzel, who made a cameo appearance in the previous film would be revealed in the next film as Elsa's fraternal sister.
Plot theories suggest that protect Elsa from the witch who took Rapunzel, their parents decided to take Elsa to the neighboring kingdom to be raised there as Anna's sister. It also cited the similarities between Elsa and Rapunzel, with their blue eyes, blonde hair, and magic powers.
However, Rapunzel is not the first character to be associated with either Elsa and Anna as Tarzan was also rumored to be the duo's lost brother. As reported by Jobs N Hire, the directors of the film have also played along with the saying that it was true, "Of course Anna and Elsa's parents didn't die," Director Chris Buck said.
"Yes, there was a shipwreck, but they were at seas a little bit longer that we think they were because the mother was pregnant, and she gave birth on the boat, to a little boy. They get shipwrecked, and somehow they were really washed far away from the Scandinavian waters, and they end up in the jungle. They end up building a treehouse and a leopard kills them, so their baby boy is raised by gorillas.", he added.
Disney has not revealed the official release date for the upcoming flick, although per Master Herald, it could be released sometime in 2018. If proven to be true, a Broadway show for the film next year would also help heighten the anticipation and marketing for the sequel.
Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee are expected to return for Frozen 2. Official plot details about the upcoming adventures of Anna, Elsa, and Olaf will be reported as it is released. Frozen was a worldwide hit having earned $1.2 billion in the box office.
