Is this part of the promotion of Zayn Malik's album?
Lil Wayne was not particularly bothered about the "rip-off" suggestions, as he is about to appear on an upcoming remixed version of Zayn's hit single, 'Pillowtalk', which the former 1D star has posted on Snapchat.
Since there are no clear and direct allegations from Lil Wayne himself, some netizens reacted that Malik may be using the 'rip-off issue' in promoting his album 'Mind of Mine' to be released on March 25 this year.
He defended the cover artwork for his debut solo album, insisting he's not 'ripping off' Lil Wayne.
Hours after Malik revealed the upcoming album cover, another allegations thrown on him like the ripping off Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter III' and 'Tha Carter IV' which were released in 2008 and 2011 respectively.
After being hit with criticism Zayn wrote on Twitter, "I'm not tryna be no rapper, my album is me a child."
He added, "My ideas have been with me a long time. Use your brain, appreciate art don't discriminate what you don't understand."
The singer debuted his new track 'It's You' on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, marking his first performance solo performance since his X Factor audition.
After Zayn's performance on the show, Fallon on Twitter hit out, writing, "I love Zayn so much but I'm annoyed he had to copy Lil Wayne like really?"
The singer have previously admitted to Beats 1 Radio Show that the song was about his ex-fiance, Perrie Edwards.
Zayn shared, "I just felt like I needed to put myself out there, just because it was a form of therapy for me and it did help me get through some shit. If I can help someone else at that time, that's cool."
'Pillowtalk' is the fastest selling single of 2016 so far, racking up combined sales of 112,000 in its first week of release.
Such also charted higher than any other song One Direction ever released in the US. The closest One Direction came to scoring a chart-topping Billboard Hot 100 single was with 'Best Song Ever', which reached Number Two in 2013.
Zayn's girlfriend Gigi Hadid, must be loving his first album cover. The model is featured in the music video for his song "Pillowtalk," which is of course of this album too.
