As part of a deal to settle a dispute in her bankruptcy case over right to sell her life story, Casey Anthony has agreed to pay $25,000, recently released documents obtained by The Orlando Sentinel said, as reported by CBS News.
Anthony filed for bankruptcy early this year, as in March, trustee Stephen Meininger filed a motion seeking permission to sell "the exclusive worldwide rights... of Anthony's life story," court papers showed.Anthony's story is property and an asset that could be sold to pay the more than $790,000 she owes to different people.
Anthony's bankruptcy lawyers have opposed Meininger's motion, saying it has created a "slippery slope that would have dangerous repercussions far beyond the scope that would have dangerous repercussions far beyond the scope of this case," Meininger said.
Anthony was found not guilty of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child in the death of Caylee, her 2-year-old daughter. She was released on July 17, 2011.Anthony was also found guilty of four misdemeanor courts for providing false information to a law enforcement officer.
In April, court papers listed Anthony as unemployed, and without receiving any kind of income, rather receiving money through the kindness of others. Her debts have include residual costs for her criminal defense lawyer, Jose Baez; she also owes $145,000 for the Orange County Sheriff's office and $68,540 for the I.R.S. In taxes, interest and penalties, documents showed.
Anthony also owes $61,505 for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for court costs, the Associated Press also reported.
