‘Chunk & Bean’ Cast Update: Anna Gunn, Adam Rodriguez joining ABC Comedy Pilot; Everything we know so far

ABC orders the comedy pilot 'Chunk & Bean', as well as the 'Square Roots'. Latest update reveals that 'Breaking Bad's alum Anna Gunn and 'CSI: Miami' actor Adam Rodriguez are co-starring in the said pilot. The family-comedy pilot is centered on the unlikely companion of the two misfits, Chunk and Bean.

The Story

'Chunk & Bean' is one of the two comedy pilots aside from 'Square Roots'. This project has written and exec by 'How I Met Your Mother' writer Dave Hemingson. The story centers on the unlikely friendship of the two misfits namely Chunk and Bean. The two benefit from having different sets of parents living next door to each other.

Meanwhile, 'Square Roots' is about a man who is eager to help mankind, whether they like it or not. According to Deadline, Patel of 'Black-ish' is the writer-exec of the project.

The Cast

'The Neighbors' alum Ed Herro and Brian Donovan penned the script inspired by their childhood. The extended cast includes the 'Jane The Virgin' comedy and 'CSI: Miami' actor Adam Rodriguez who is set to play Jim Rogerson. The 'Breaking Bad' star Anna Gunn is also included in the cast list.

According to TVLine, Gunn is set to portray Connie Dawson, "Chunk's stern but (mostly) fair mother, a psychologist who works out of her home office. Connie loves Chunk and that love takes the form of constant monitoring of his food intake and prodding him to slim down. She wants him to be happy but she's unaware that her efforts are having the opposite effect." Gunn's character is also a very protective mother who wants to give everything for her children.

Other noteworthy things

The crew will be using a single-cam for this project that will be exec produced by Herro, Donovan and Dave Hemingson, according to Variety. Moreover, the comedy pilot is the first TV comedy gig of Gunn, who won 2 Emmys for her role in 'Breaking Bad' and 'Gracepoint'. And, the release date for this pilot is still unknown.
