A Rochester judge was arrested for drunk driving after she was stopped by the authorities while going on her way to court to handle criminal arraignments. The judge was arrested on Saturday morning after being pulled over by the New York State troopers. The car appeared to be damaged and authorities were not also sure what the judge hit.

Judge Leticia Astacio, 34 years old was stopped and was arrested Friday morning after being stopped by New York State troopers on Interstate 490, according to Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley, Syracuse reported. Trooper Chris Kowalski said, the judge's vehicle might have been on a "one-car crash".

They have seen property damage on the judge's car however, the trooper said it is still unclear of the extent. Police told Judge Astacio to take the Breathalyzer test, but, the judge declined.

The judge was not injured during the incident. Astacio was released and she was issued an appearance ticket for March 11 at Rochester City Court, according to Fox News. Doorley also said, the judge was on her way to preside over Saturday morning arraignments. Another judge was called in as for her replacement, after she was arrested.

Spokesperson for state court has also refuse to respond regarding the judge's case. She hasn't immediately returned a call for comment. An investigation on her case is still ongoing. In 2014, the Democrat judge was elected to the judicial post. She joined the Monroe County District's Office and moved to the drunken driving bureau.

Astacio, a graduate of Irondequoit High School, worked as senior district attorney in the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Bureau. She started her own criminal defense practice in 2011. She had defeated two other Democrats in a September primary before being unopposed in the general election. Astacio became a judge in 2015.
