S.W.A.T. Star Dies: 87-Year-Old Remembered for Legendary Acting Career (Video)

Actor Steve Forrest, who played Lieutenant Dan "Hondo" Harrelson on "S.W.A.T.", the 1970s series, has died in Thousand Oaks, California his family said, as reported by UPI. He was 87. He died on May 18, and while The Hollywood Reporter confirmed his death, the journal did not give a cause.

Forrest also starred in films like "The Longest Day," "So Big," "Prisoner of War," "It Happend to Jane," "Mommie Dearest" and "Spies Like Us." On television, Forrest was also known for TV guest spots on "Gunsmoke," "Dallas" and "Bonanza.

Forrest soon transitioned to TV series such as "Playhouse 90," and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents."

The actor signed under contract to the BBC in 1965, starring as John Mannering, an antique dealer/secret agent, in the hit British crime drama "The Baron." Forrest's line "Let's Roll" became a popular catchphrase in modern American culture.

Forrest is survived by his wife of 65 years, Christine. He had three sons, Michael, Forrest and Stephen. A funeral service will be held on May 30 in Westlake Village, in L.A.
