Gravity Falls series finale airing Feb. 15 might see Mabel's death; Gravity Falls Special happening?

The final showdown between reality shifter Bill Cipher and the Pines family leads to a decision to endure and may lead to Mabel's death in the finale of Gravity Falls Season 2 entitled 'Weirdmageddon III.' Creator Alex Hirsch hints on a Gravity Falls Special sometime in the future.

Gravity Falls series finale is tagged as the ultimate sacrifice episode and in a Twitter post by series creator Alex Hirsch shared by Korea Portal, one for the series' characters will not make until the end of the episode. Early speculations lead to Gravity Falls Mayor Befufftlefumpteras who will end up dying in the finale as he faced death many times before.

However, Movie Pilot added that when Bill's final plans are exposed, the Pines family are forced to face him and someone from the family has to make a sacrifice. Yes, the sacrifice means to die for greater good and fans suggested it is more likely of Mabel to do the deed. As to what is Bill is planning in the end, no details are shared yet.

The 40 episodes Gravity Falls premiered last 1 August 2014 and ranks 7th on Disney XD's most watched animated series in kids ages 6-11. Despite the good performance as well as positive feedbacks, Alex Hirsch clarified that an extension is not possible. The creator plans to stick to the original plan of 40 episodes with a beginning, middle, and end which the writers were able to tell in two seasons, TV Line explained. But Hirsch teased on a possible Gravity Falls Special or even a comic.

In the previous episode of the series entitled Escape from Reality, Stan and Mabel Pines and the rest of their friends and neighbors are safe but are stranded in the Mystery Shack while Bill further strategize for his final move.
