LG’s New Super Thin 65-Inch OLED TVs Now Available at U.S. Stores

LG’s new Signature G6 OLED TV models featured in the Super Bowl 50 ad starring Liam Neeson have recently been hitting U.S. stores.

The South Korean tech multinational introduced its 65-inch super thin luminescent television model at the CES 2016 last month, saying the TVs would be released to retailers within the first half of the year.

However, due to the massive consumer interest garnered from the new TV’s Super Bowl commercial last Sunday, LG is hoping to take advantage of the attention from the media exposure and social media conversation the ad generated.

According to David VanderWaal, LG Electronics USA’s VP for marketing, the unprecedented success of the Super Bowl commercial and the buildup on social media has led to the company to preempt TV selling season by offering the G6 up for preorder, USA Today reported.

With the one-tenth of an inch thick panel featuring the richer colors and deeper blacks of organic-light-emitting diode (OLED) technology, LG is predicting most television brands following the LG G6 will be carrying OLED, VanderWaal added.

Currently LG is the only brand in the market today offering OLED technology, TechHive wrote. The company’s latest top-of-the-line model can handle HDR content, and improved colors and contrast, boasting of delivering resolutions four times that of the current HDTVs available.

Since Monday, select retail outlets across the U.S., including Best Buy, have been carrying the Signature 4K Ultra HD OLED televisions available for preorder at $7,999.99, Digital Trends said.

Customers who reserve their own G6 at these select retailers, including Fry’s Electronics, P.C. Richard & Son, Abt Electronics, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Value Electronics, Bjorn’s, Video & Audio Center, and Brandsmart, can expect to have their orders filled within a 60-day period.

LG has also announced it will be releasing the G6’s 77-inch model sometime during the second half of the year.
