India- Pakistan Lawyers Attend Seminar To Bring Two Nations Closer

Lawyers from Pakistan and India attended a seminar in Law Bhawan India, where ties between the two nations were discussed.

The legal fraternity from both Pakistan and India were part of a seminar intended to discuss the ties between the two countries. According to a report, 40 lawyers from Pakistan attended the seminar that was led by Punjab bar council, Farah Ejaz in Law Bhawan, Sector 37.

The seminar started with a creative note, as Ejaz asked the lawyers to hold hands as a symbol of influencing peace between Pakistan and India.

"The border created by politicians is to perpetuate their vested interests, we should bury it," said Ejaz in her poem, as reported by Hindustan Times.

"I believe it is possible to have a scenario, where there could be frequent exchange programmes between our countries for better ties. We can at least have a provision where India and Pakistan could easily provide visas to the scholars who frequently visit each other," added Ejaz in the poem.

Called 'Strengthening democracy in Asia-Pacific region,' the session aimed to put the importance of eradicating an "artificial border" brought about by the politicians in India and Pakistan. Ejaz also discussed that their particular interests as a legal fraternity would benefit without the said border.

R S Cheema, a senior advocate, mentioned during the gathering that the provisions in the Indian Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code of both Pakistan and India are in the same nature, such in the sense of honor killing and dowry.

Cheema added that there is a huge need to strengthen Pakistan's democracy. Cheema stressed the fact that clearing certain misunderstandings between the citizens of the two countries should happen, as well as the need to push through with efforts for peace such as reducing expenses for weapons.

Mumtaz Mufasa, former chairman of Pakistan Bar Council, suggested that if the lawyers from the two countries work together, their respective governments will feel the urge to form a close bond and settle their differences, Latest News 360 reports.
