Mexican actress Kate Del Castillo has filed an injunction seeking to block any arrest connected to the ongoing investigation regarding her relationship with drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzmán. Del Castillo's petition claims violation of the articles 14 and 16 in the constitution.

An injunction filed by Del Castillo's legal team was accepted by the Third District Court for Injunctions wherein Del Castillo claims that the articles 14 and 16 have been violated during probe regarding Guzman.

According to El Daily Post, Del Castillo has been linked to the case of 'El Chapo' after the media outlets exposed her cellphone text messages to Guzman. The articles were also attributed to the ongoing investigation about her and several other individuals' connection to the drug boss, although, the source of the information remains unknown.

In her request, Del Castillo seeks protection as per stated in the article 16 which assures her rights to private communication and prohibits illegal detention. The constitution also states that no information obtained illegally are allowed to be used in court as evidence against an individual. Articles 14 and 16 also prohibit detention unless a warrant from a judge is secured.

Del Castillo's request for injunction seeks protection on personal properties in her home and business. However, according to NBC News, the judge recently requested Del Castillo's lawyer to specify more clearly the basis on which they are seeking the injunction. They are given 5 days to respond to the court's request.

Del Castillo was involved on the 'El Chapo' case after it was reported by the media that it was her who introduced Guzman to actor Sean Penn for a Rolling Stone profile. According to Latin post, El Chapo was arrested several months after such meeting.

The mexican actress eventually claimed that Penn double-crossed her with the meeting, but such allegations was immediate denied by Penn saying that Del Castillo was aware about the article and even helped on its fact-checking process.

The Mexico attorney general stated that they are currently investigating on Del Castillo's relationship with Guzman and is working on investigation about potential money laundering on Del Castillo's tequila business.
