An Israeli court sentenced two young Jews involved in the brutal murder of Palestinian teenager Muhammad Abu Khdeir. But despite of the this, Abu's family are still not satisfied with the court's ruling on the case.

It was after the burial of three Israeli yeshiva students who were kidnapped and brutally murdered by men associated with the Hamas when the body of Abu Khdeir was found. People immediately saw this as a retaliation by the Jewish extremist. Because of this tension, a widespread protest by the Palestinians started to take place, they fired rockets from Gaza and in no time Israel was at war with the Hamas. Thousands of civilians died mostly Palestinians from the seven-week war.

The two teenagers who planned the killing of Abu Khdeir confessed to the killings and was found guilty last November, they were all sentenced last Thursday, the court ordered each of the teenagers to pay 30,000 shekels to Abu Khdeir's family. Yosef Haim Ben-David, the main defendant in the case pleaded insanity during the last moment of the case. The court is yet to provide a ruling regarding his plead.

One of the accused teenagers only received a 21-year prison term as the court found out that he did not take part in the actual murder where the others actually beat and pour fuel into Khdier's body before burning him. Because of this decision, Abu Khdeir's family condemned the court's ruling and ask for both men to be given life imprisonment. Abu's mother, Suha said that he cannot accept the court's decision, she added that she will lose her son forever while his killers will probably be released in about 10 years or less.

Uri Korb, one of the prosecutors hopes that this will be a message to everyone that this type of actions are repulsive and the society will never accept it. The state wanted life terms for both accused but somehow was satisfied with the court's ruling.
