Starz has revealed that the casting call for Brianna Mackenzie is over as "Waterloo Road" Sophie Skelton has landed on the important role for "Outlander" Season 2. EP Ron Moore even hinted that Brianna will be making her debut when the series get back to the 1968 storyline. Aside from Skelton, "The Crimson Field" alum has been cast to play as Roger Wakefield.
Starz Network officially announced that the casting call for Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser's (Caitriona Balfe) 2nd daughter, Brianna MacKenzie has ended.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'Waterloo Road" alum Sophie Skelton has landed the major new character who is described in Diana Gabaldon's book as a redheaded and beautiful woman with a strong mind and intelligent beyond her age. Brianna is said to have inherited traits from both her mother and father, with a scholastic mindset and a bit of stubbornness.
Speaking to Zap2it about the so-called "Breewatch", executive producer Ronald D. Moore shared some details about Brianna saying, "You will get to see her [but] not until we get back to the 1968 story, which won't be for a while towards the end of the season."
In addition, "The Crimson Field" actor Richard Rankin has been cast for a major season 2 role s well. The 33-year-old Scottish actor will be playing the role of Roger Wakefield, the adopted son of the Reverend Wakefield who spends a lot of time with Brianna. Roger only appeared in a few episodes of the season premiere but may have an important role if the book series is any indication, as reported on Den of Geek.
"Outlander" is an American-British TV time travel romance drama series developed by Ronald D. Moore. The storyline is based on Diana Gabaldon's series of novels under the same name.
"Outlander" Season 2 is scheduled to return sometime in April 2016 exclusively on Starz Network.
