Delta Airlines apologizes for flight attendants’ “altercation” that led to unscheduled landing

By

Delta Airlines recently apologized to passengers after a confrontation between two flight attendants last month. The said incident led pilots to make an unscheduled landing halfway through the trip. The airline claimed that the actions of the crew members didn't reflect the professionalism expected of employees.

An altercation between two Delta Airlines flight attendants over "work issues" lead to "flying fist" and prompted the pilot to land the plane and delay the flight by more than an hour. The incident occurred January 22 on Flight 2598 from Los Angeles to Minneapolis-St. Paul, as mentioned in the Aviation Herald.

Atlanta Business Chronicles also reported that the plane was about 200 miles south of Salt Lake City when the captain decided to land the Boeing 757 at Salt Lake City International Airport because he "wanted to hear from his flight attendants." Delta, then, made an apology to those customers who were inconvenienced after flight 2598 from Los Angeles to Minneapolis-St. Paul made an unscheduled stop in Salt Lake City following an altercation involving two flight attendants on board.

And on Monday, Atlanta-based Delta confirmed the incident. The airline company revealed to The Washington Post regarding the incident and released a statement that goes: "Delta apologizes to those customers who were inconvenienced after flight 2598 from Los Angeles to Minneapolis-St. Paul made an unscheduled stop in Salt Lake City following an altercation involving two flight attendants on board."

Delta, then, stated that the crew members' actions do not really reflect the values and professionalism of the airline company expects from its employees. And because of the altercation incident, the airline company decided to give back to their passengers for the trouble they have caused them. The SkyMiles members received miles and customers who are not SkyMiles members received a travel voucher, Delta said.

For now, Atlanta-based Delta Airlines promised to take the blame for the altercation of their employees. But then, the spokeswoman for Delta declined to reveal whether the fighting flight attendants were punished or provide any other details of the incident.
