Audrie Pott Suicide: 3 Teenagers Arrested 7 Months After Sexual Assault Led California Girl to Take Her Own Life (Video)

Three California teenagers, who were accused of raping Audrie Pott, are facing charges of sexual battery, CNN reported Weeks after the alleged rape at a house party in Saratoga on September 2, Pott subsequently committed suicide, humiliated after they reportedly posted photos of her, authorities said.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's detectives said that Pott was so drunk that she then when she passed out, three boys sexually attacked her. After the assault, they took photos, sharing the pictures with their classmates at school, through texts and e-mails.

By the next morning, learning that photos had been posted on the Internet, 15-year-old Potts wrote on her Facebook page: "They took pictures of me. My life is ruined. This is the worst day ever."

She committed suicide -by hanging herself- a few days later.

"What happened to Audrie was tragic. It should never have happened," Lauren Cerri, the Pott family attorney, told KGO news network.

"She had no idea what occurred until she woke up the following morning and had some drawings on her body and in some private areas."

The three unidentified boys are facing two felony charges and one misdemeanor of sexual battery, news reports said. Formal charges will come next week.

"That it took that long (for an arrest) was pretty ridiculous," classmate Samir Ingle told the press. "It was maybe half a year. I find that really, really disturbing."

Pott's parents are also holding a news conference early next week, speaking out publicly about how their tragedy affected their lives.

An "Audrie Pott Foundation" Facebook page has been set up with the "primary focus to provide youth counseling and support...working with the hope of being able to reach out to the world through tragedy assistance, education, and disaster relief..."
