The Nevada rancher who initiated the standoff against the federal government, Cliven Bundy urged the protesters to stand their ground. This statement was given by Bundy after his son urged them to give off the fight.
Ammon Bundy, Clivens son is now in Portland Oregon jail after being arrested. He called on the four remaining occupiers at the Malheur national wildlife to surrender and go home. He said that he love them and to take the fight to the court. But his father declared that they are not backing down from the government.
Cliven in his letter to the feds said that they will retain possession of the Harney County Resource Center. Ha added that if they dint retain the land, they will lose everything and they are not going to give up. He demanded to remove all federal and state police agent in the area.
In an interview, he said that his imprisoned son was pressured and urge by the government to tell the remaining protesters to go home. He said that his arm got twisted and that is not what's in his heart. He added that he hadn't talked to his son since his arrest.
Clivens wife, carol Bundy reiterated that it is very important that the standoff remains. She said that Ammon doesn't want bloodshed d but he wants the message to continue. She added that they already made a statement. They already made a stand and they are going to stick by it.
David Fry, 27 years old, Jeff Banta and his wife, and Sandy Anderson are the four remaining occupants in the area. They said in a video posted online that they will not leave unless the government will guarantee zero charges against them
Since the standoff, 11 people associated with the armed militia were already arrested. LaVoy Fincum, the group's spokesperson was shot by and killed by the state troopers during the standoff. Ryan Bundy, Ammon's brother and the group of activist are facing federal felony charges for their roles in occupying government buildings since the start of the standoff last January 2.
