Alabama Man Held Guilty for Attempted Murder Following the House Party Shooting in Florida

A man from Alabama pleaded guilty on the conviction of shooting up at a house party in Florida. The convicted man also faces several counts of attempted murder, wounding the victims during the said party.

According to New York Post, David Jamichael Daniels, 22 years old is ruled guilty by the Jurors on Thursday on the charges of seven counts of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied building. The shooting occurred during a house party in the panhandle town last year, where it is also a popular spring break destination.

Larry Basford, the State lawyer on Thursday presented evidence that will identify Daniels as the gunman during the said house party. Six of the seven people had identified him on the trial, My Panhandle reported. Basford said that there is no doubt that he was inside that room and he was doing the shooting.

Matthew Meredith, Daniels' attorney, also questioned the testimony of the victims and argued Daniels' clothing does not match on their descriptions. "As dark as it was in the house, how did anyone get a good look at the shooter," Meredith asked. He also said, Daniels' fingerprints were not found on the gun.

Despite the long argument on the court, the final verdict was guilty for Daniels. Bosford said, "Their goals were the same as the other hundreds or thousands of students that come here, to relax, have a good time, make some memories and go back to school, but within 48 hours of arriving in Panama City Beach, their dreams turned into a nightmare."

Students Annesia Powell and Kearria Freed were among the victims during the house party shooting. According to WJHG, Freed was shot in her head and Powell on the leg. "My first instinct was just to get down as low as I can, because I was in the middle of the party, so I didn't know where the shooter was coming from. I think I was in a state of shock," Powell said.

Freed said she is moving on since the shooting and plans to take online studies after her physical therapy. The judge set the sentencing date for March the 18th. The prosecution said they will be pushing for a life sentence.
