An English prison teacher was arrested for allegedly helping the three California inmates to escape from the Orange County Central Men's Jail in Santa Ana. Manhunt for the inmate escapees is still underway after the Friday break out.
According to NBC News, the 44 year old Nooshafarin Ravaghi is arrested on suspicion by the authorities, suspecting she may have given the men with Google maps before they cut and climbed their way out of the maximum-security jail in Southern California. Lt. Jeff Hallock, Orange County Sheriff said, it was clear that the three escspees, Hossein Nayeri, 37, Jonathan Tieu, 20, and Bac Duong, 43, got some assistance on the inside.
Ravaghi is an English second language teacher at the Orange County Central Men's Jail. Hossein Nayeri is among the student in her class. The female English will be charge for aiding the inmate escapees. WLS also reported, authorities pointed Nayeri could be the one who led the escape.
Authorities are also investigating the possibility that Ravaghi could have provided them tools to aid their escape. However, the teacher denied all the allegations. In the past two days, there are at least nine people with direct connections to the three escapees were arrested.
Hallock also believed that the fugitives are still together and in California. According to the investigators, they may be living out of a van that was stolen in Los Angeles on Sunday, CBC reported. Nayeri, Tieu and Bac Duong broke out from the jail through cutting a hole in a metal grate then crawling through the plumbing systems and onto the roof. They also pushed aside the barbed wire and rappelled to the ground using a makeshift rope out of bed sheets.
All three inmates are accused of violent crimes but had not been convicted. Nayeri had been held without bond since September 2014 on charges of kidnapping, torture, aggravated mayhem and burglary. While inmate, Bac Duong, was being held without bond since last month on charges of attempted murder and other charges.
The third escapee, Jonathan Tieu, had been held on a $1m bond since October 2013 on charges of murder and attempted murder. His case is believed to be gang-related. Authorities are also offering a $200,000 reward for information leading to their arrest.
