A lawyer for Chinese national is making international headline news after criticizing the way of US government in handling a certain case regarding nuclear weapons. Moreover, the Chinese national is a smuggler that worked with Iran to deliver U.S. made devices for converting uranium.

US Government is now the focus of criticism by lawyer Stephen Weymouth after dropping charges on an Iranian co-defendant as part of a deal as according to Eagle Tribune. The report indicated that the US decided to nix the charges since it was part of the breakthrough deal between the two countries. Meanwhile, the Chinese being defended by Weymouth is Sihai Cheng who pleaded guilty in smuggling and supplying transducers to an Iranian company. Due to this, he was sentenced with nine years while his co-defendant partner won't even spend a single day in prison.

To give light to the case, Fox News detailed that Weymouth tried everything to detain his client from having 15-year prison time and calling it unjustifiable decision after Cheng's co-defendant, Seyed Abolfazl Shahab Jamili, is being set free. He added that Jamili is the lead actor in this case and would have pleaded not guilty if they knew that the US will be making that move. Weymouth said that "In this case, it has been outrageously unfair as far as Mr. Cheng is concerned," before asking Judge Patti Saris to drop the charges or if they can retract their guilty plea made last December.

Lastly, The Boston Globe also gave details to the specifics of this case in the article they wrote. In summary, Cheng was indicted last 2013 with Jamili and two Iranian company for smuggling pressure transducers using China to Iran with a mission in improving their quality of uranium weapons. After a warrant arrest for Jamili was issued, it was noted that they're dropped this month due to an agreement. The US-Iran deal contains an allowance to release and dismiss charges for 14 Iranian nationals subjected to crimes in US.

Weymouth is a lawyer of Sihai Cheng who was condemned as a smuggler of pressure transducers used for making weapon-quality uranium. The sentence for Cheng goes for 9 years while the Iranian co-defendant will be released as he is absolved of crimes due to the US-Iran deal.
