Miami-based doctor apologizes on national morning TV at Uber driver for drunken night fiasco

By

Nothing goes amiss in the world today with cameras everywhere and the internet like a kindle, waiting for a material to which it will engulf in flames - a lesson that Florida doctor Anjali Ramkissoon learned the hard way. Her kicking, screaming, and profanity shouting moment was caught on camera and became entertainment snack for the whole world.

The Washington Post, reports Ramkissoon's apology when she appeared for interview on Good Morning America. The four-year neurology resident with the Jackson Health System said she is ashamed for what she did and that she couldn't bring herself to finish the entire video. She also said that her actions brought negative ramifications not only to her but also to her family as they are now receiving death threats and violent reactions from anonymous individuals who have apparently seen the video.

Daily Mail UK reports that Ramkissoon blamed a series of bad luck and alcohol consumption for her behavior. Her father was apparently in the hospital for a week and earlier that day, she and her long-time boyfriend have broken up, hence the alcohol. She said it was the worst night of her life and said she was too drunk to drive herself home that's why she hired Uber. Ramkissoon accepted responsibility and said her reasons are not excuses that could cover up what she did.

She came out to apologize because she hurt too many people after it - her family, friends, her job, the Uber driver. "Nobody deserves to be treated that way. That's not me," she told the GMA anchor. She said she's owning up to her actions and asked the forgiveness of the people who are still very angry at what she did.

Chron reports that the Uber driver didn't press charges. Ramkissoon said she settled with the driver that night, paid for damages, and apologized for the incident.

Since the video became viral, Jackson Health System has put Ramkissoon on administrative leave with pay and is conducting further investigation to determine if her actions are ground for termination.
