Kathryn Kalikow: Daughter of Ex-New York Post Executive and Mogul Arrested on Drug Charges

The daughter of the multimillionaire mogul and former New York Post publisher was arrested in a Bronx apartment with her boyfriend for allegedly selling heroin to an undercover policeman on Sunday, according to UPI.com. They appeared in court on Monday.

Kathryn Kalikow, a Vassar College educated 27 year old along with her 28 year old boyfriend Brian Whelan were arrested after ater attempting a drug sale, through craigslist. They described the heroin as "high quality diesel pain relief," CNN reported. Kathryn is the daughter of Peter Kalikow.

Each were charged with felony drug possession with intent to sell, and were released without bail.

"Mary and I are very concerned, and all we are concentrating on now is helping our daughter," the mogul said in a brief statement.

Undercover police in the Bronx responded to aCraigslist post, setting up with the young pushers, arranging a meeting through text messages.

Both Kalikow and Whalen admitted to their drug addiction, prosecutors said.

"It was my idea to go on Craigslist and post the ad. I need treatment. I am a heroin addict, and to afford the drug I agreed to sell some . . . on consignment for the person I buy from," Whalen told cops, according to court records.

Whelan's family admitted him voluntarily to a drug rehabilitation facility on Monday evening, their attorney Marvin Ray Raskin said Tuesday.

"I have a problem," Kalikow told cops, prosecutors said. "I need help."

The two pleaded not guilty at their arraignments on Monday, and were released on their own recognizance, according to CNN reporting. They are expected to return to court on May 14.

Peter Kalikow purchased the New York Post in 1988, and sold it in 1993, and was the chairman of New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority from 2001 to 2007. He is a prominent real estate mogul.
