Rapper Future's ex-bodyguard Michael Phillips was shot and killed at his front door Monday at his home on Bridlewood Court, Georgia. His pregnant wife, Jameela Phillips, whom the 27-year-old got married with at the Dominican Republic 8 months ago, was also there.
Daily News reported that police haven't identified any suspects and haven't made any arrests yet. The young newlywed worked as a bodyguard for the Billboard 200 artist, rapper Future. After leaving the gig, he worked as a pianist in the Hand of Faith Deliverance church where his parents were pastors.
Fox 5 Atlanta wrote that Mrs. Philips, who is 9 months pregnant, said, "I heard the shots and just ducked for cover and started looking for my gun to protect me." Meanwhile, Pastor Tania Johnson, Phillips' mother, said, "It took a heartless person to take the life of such a caring, generous young man and I just want justice." The newlyweds are expecting their first child.
According to reports from the Clayton County Police, neighbours heard an argument at Phillips' house, and later on gunshots were heard. No one saw who stopped by his house.
Future tweeted Tuesday, "Rest in Paradise Big Mike, Lafamilia forever lil bro #FBG."
According to TMZ, Future refuses to talk to the cops, who are looking for leads on who shot his former bodyguard. He said he was devastated by Phillips' death, but he has no information about what happened. He said he stopped working with the victim since 2012.
The Georgia police wanted to have a word with Future to see if he can give them any information on the matter, but the rapper wouldn't even tell the cops that he doesn't know anything.
Police said they have leads, but they don't have suspects yet. The authorities would like to talk to all of Michael Phillips' friends for possible leads and information on his death.
