German allies fall apart as Bavarians threaten legal steps if Merkel fails to solve refugee problem quick

The rift between Germany's Christian Social Union (CSU) and partner Christian Democrats (CDU) is deepening as German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Bavarian allies threatened to take legal actions against her government if she fails to address the problem on the growing number of unqualified asylum seekers.

Reuters reported that CSU leader Horst Seehofer faxed a letter to Merkel on Tuesday demanding her to set up centers on the Austrian area to hasten the deportation of migrants who are not qualified for asylum. The Bavarian State Chancellery gave her only up to Friday to respond to the letter. Meanwhile, Merkel's junior coalition partner and Social Democrats (SPD) parliamentary leader Thomas Oppermann, said the threat shows that Seehofer is breaking up with the coalition.

Merkel opened Germany's doors last year to welcome desperate migrants from the war-torn country in the Middle East. However, according to the Financial Times, Germans and some EU leaders are getting frustrated as Merkel failed to come up with a concrete solution to the crisis as more than a million migrant poured in last year, with another million expected this year.

"Bavaria needs effective measures immediately," said Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann in a report by RT. "If we fail to decrease the number of refugees coming to Germany every day, we must expect another million asylum seekers or more to come next year."

CSU proposed to create effective control over the external borders of EU to ensure that migrants and refugees will be distributed fairly among EU states. It proposed to limit the acceptance of migrants to only 200,000 asylum seekers annually. The spill overs should be deported back to the borders of their neighbouring states, which primarily is Austria, Germany's closest ally in this time of crisis.

Just last week, Austria announced to tighten its boarders, following the move of Denmark and Sweden. Meanwhile, Seehofer emphasised that CSU will do whatever it takes to solve the refugee situation.
