Motorola has been releasing a series of software updates to its devices since the beginning of the year, but it remains silent as to when its partner carriers will be rolling out to the same update. According to recent reports, Motorola will begin seeding the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Moto G 2015 units under AT&T and Sprint in the coming weeks.
Moto G 2015 units of AT&T and Sprint are expected to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update anytime soon as unlocked versions have already began getting the update since first week of January, not only in the United States but also in India, Brazil and some European countries. The older version of the device was announced late last week to be in the labs of Motorola for soak tests. It was released over-the-air (OTA) as a beta version before Motorola will venture into the official build. Moto G 2015 was last update Android 5.1 Lollipop.
As known in the tech industry, Moto X Pure Edition 2015, Moto X Pure Edition 2014, Moto X Force and Moto G 2014 phones have already been updated to Marshmallow, making Motorola the top phone company in the Marshmallow race. LG and HTC come next with only two devices each updated to Marshmallow. Meanwhile, Samsung has begun rolling out a beta version of the build to Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge units.
The Android 6.0 soak test of Motorola is expected to carry 400 MB, while the official build is expected to be more than 1 GB. This means that beta versions are not everything, as device manufacturers will only test considerably unstable apps and systems.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come into Moto G 2015 units with a lot of optimizations and improvements from Lollipop, including the performance, software, battery life, user interface, mobile payments, plus the additions brought by the carriers.
