Charlie Sheen sued by ex-wife Denise Richards for $1.2 million

Another Hollywood ex-couple is facing legal woes. Denise Richards has filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband, Charlie Sheen, for allegedly failing to provide financial support he had sworn for their children.

Richards claimed in the court papers obtained by People that Sheen evicted her and her children from their home in Beverly Hills, California last September. And since then Sheen has not provided money for them to buy a new house as he had promised.

She’s seeking no less than $1.2 million in damages.

Sheen’s lawyer, Atty. Martin Singer, released a statement slamming Richards’ case against the "Two and a Half Men" actor. He said that the lawsuit is about "nothing more than money, money, money."

"Denise Richards is not satisfied that she has received $660,000 tax free each year for almost 10 years. It is not enough money for her, besides the approximate $10 million she has received from Charlie under her short marriage," Singer continued.

He also told gossip site TMZ that Sheen is not backing down from this case and is willing to fight against his ex-wife’s accusations.

"In addition to what Charlie has been paying Denise, he also pays for school, all expenses and it's still not enough for her. He intends to fight this and believes he will prevail."

But a rep from Richards’ camp has countered the negative statements they’ve been releasing in the past few days.

“It was a big mistake for her to move into that house . . . He saw [the kids] less when he lived by them,” commented one friend of Richards’ on Page Six.

“She’s got nothing to hide. He has a lot to hide, and they try to make her look like a greedy bitch.”

Sheen made headlines last year when he publicly announced that he has been HIV positive since 2011. As for his current legal battle, it’s yet to be determined whether he would agree to settle this case for the sake of his children or go to trial in the coming weeks.
