The body of a man was recovered from the Cherry Creek by Glendale Police Friday afternoon. Officials say they are investigating the cause of death.
A passerby along the creek saw the body at around 4 p.m. and informed the police.
"We have an active investigation going on at this time. I don't know his age. I don't know his race," Glendale Police Captain Michael Gross said.
According to Gross, police found a weapon beside the body but did not know whether it was used in the killing.
"There is a weapon at the scene but it is unknown if that weapon is the cause of death," said Gross. "Any time you have a death case like this you have to assume the worst and conduct an investigation accordingly. We'll be here into the night doing what we can to solve this to find out what happened," said Gross.
The Denver Channel reported that Gross informed them that the body of the mid-50's black male was taken away by the Arapahoe County Coroner.
