Police arrested an elementary school teacher after they found minors consuming alcohol at her house Sunday.
Forty-three-year old Antonia Marino, a teacher at pine Ridge Elementary School in Clermont, hosted a party at her Minneola home, which involved over 50 minors, officials said. They received a complaint saying that the juveniles threw bottles in the yard and driveways along the street, reported ClickOrlando.com.
The authorities said Marino did not open the door for an hour and denied any responsibility for the party. After letting the officials in, the police found a 15-year-old girl passed out and covered in vomit in a bedroom closet.
She said that she had come home to find 40-50 teenagers enjoying a party thrown by her daughter.
Police said witnesses saw Marino being present at the party but did not stop the minors from consuming the alcohol.
"That's terrible, for her to be doing that, serving alcohol to minors, it's ridiculous," said neighbor Richard Hendricks.
The parents of the kids were informed and they came and picked up their children, the officials said. Marino has been taken to Lake County Jail.
Marino's school is reportedly investigating the matter and she will not be allowed to resume teaching until the investigation is over. Marino has been a teacher for 10 years.
