British X-Factor judge, Cheryl Fernandez Versini plans to stay as "Fernandez-Versini" until her divorced paperworks with her husband, Jean Barnard is done. The singer was previously known on her birth name as Cheryl Tweedy, and became Cheryl Cole after she married her first husband.
According to Daily Mail, the 32 year old British singer will continue to use her latest surname despite her pending divorce with her husband. Based on the document obtained, the British X Factor judge show a requested paperwork regarding her company, CC Couture Ltd, which are kept in her current name.
Quoted by Independent, a source revealed, "Cheryl has had to reinvent herself several times but her three past names all have very different memories. Tweedy is associated with her assault court case, Cole with Ashley's cheating and now her new name with another failed marriage."
Last Sunday, she also revealed her second intention to divorce after her just 18-months of marriage with French restaurateur Jean Barnard. The two married within seven months of their first meeting.
However, it seems her divorce plans will be put on a waiting list as Cheryl needs to face another three years before she can divorce her current French husband. It is all because to the place where their marriage take place, the Mustique Island.
According to Mirror, the island has strict Grenadine law, where a couple is allowed pnly to divorce if they are married for three years and unless they are going through "exceptional hardship."The pair had their wedding on Macaroni Beach on July 7, 2014, having just four guests as their witness.
A partner in St Vincent-based law firm Williams & Williams also explained regarding her case. "The only way of circumventing the three-year rule is if you can prove exceptional circumstances. The question, in that case, is what exactly constitutes 'exceptional."
A spokesperson from Cheryl's side also confirmed regarding her name. Cheryl's full name is Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and professionally the British singer will be known as Cheryl.
