Jodi Arias Trial Update: Sobbing Arias Asked Whether She Cried While Killing Travis Alexander

By

Defendant Jodi Arias was reduced to tears today on Thursday, and was unable to answer pointed questions when shown a photo of her dead ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander, prompting prosecutor Juan Martinez to ask mockingly whether she also cried while killing him, according to ABC News.

Martinez, who's been aggressively questioning Arias over the last four days, directed the accused murderer to point out on a photo of the crime scene where she stood when Alexander was lying dead in his shower.

"Where were you? Why don't you put a mark on there?" Martinez said.

As Arias began to to cry, Martinez grew more agitated.

"Were you crying when you were shooting him?" Martinez asked.

"I don't remember," Arias responded.

"Were you crying when you stabbed him?" he said. "How about when you slashed his throat?"

"I don't remember," she said. "I don't know."

The 32-year-old Arias is accused of killing Alexander on June 4, 2008, stabbing him 27 times. He also was shot twice in the head.

Arias claims she killed him in self defense, painting Alexander as a violent sex fiend. If convicted, she could face the death penalty.

"You keep trying to be critical without answering. If you're having problems with the questioning let me know," he said. "Why is it you have trouble following these questions when they are in conflict with what you are telling us?"

Martinez has tried to depict Arias as a remorseless liar with no regret for killing Alexander.
