First Lady Michelle Obama's Oscar presentation has generated criticism from the conservative media saying that she did not praise the military men and women who stood behind while the announcing the award for the best picture, reported Politico.
A conservative blogger with The Washington Post, Jennifer Rubin described the military personnel who stood behind the First Lady as "decoration."
Obama, donning a silver dress, announced "Argo" the best movie via satellite from the White House. She thanked the Hollywood people for their "vitally important" work but did not acknowledge the presence of the military members standing behind her, reported Politico.
Popular radio host and political commentator Laura Ingraham tweeted, "Did anyone thank our troops?" On a similar note activist Celia Bigelow tweeted asking, "How much of our taxes went towards @michelleobama's dress?"
Politico further reported that Vince Coglianese of The Daily Caller spoke to former Marine fighter pilot, Ed Timperlake, a former Marine fighter pilot who served as an assistant secretary in the Department of Veterans Affairs under President George H.W. Bush, who said using the military as "window dressing" for a commercial event almost certainly "crossed the line" into "statist propaganda."
"As a movie lover, she (Michelle Obama) was honored to present the award and celebrate the artists who inspire us all - especially our young people," the First Lady's communications director said in a statement,
