The new Hitman video game will now be released in multiple parts where Agent 47's assassination adventure will feature an "episodic" release. The first episode, Intro Pack, includes Prologue and Paris Missions when it launches in March. Also, the game's beta is scheduled next month for PS4 and PC.
According to Wired UK, when the game launches on March 11 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, it will only contain two missions, Prologue and Paris. Throughout 2016, more campaign will be added like Italy in April and Morocco in May. Locations such as Thailand, the United States and Japan are also expected to be released monthly.
Weekly updates will also be released between the chapter intervals that will feature live events and "additional planned content."
The Head of Studio at Io-Interactive, Hannes Seifert, has elaborated in his statement the episodic release of the game:
We decided to take the full leap and publish Hitman as a truly episodic game experience.
Part of that decision is for that little bit of extra time to ensure every location we release is at the quality level fitting for a Hitman game. But the main driving reason is that this will allow us to create a living game that will expand and evolve over time and establish a foundation for the future -- this is the first game in a storyline which will continue and expand with future Hitman games.
The game is anticipated to be bigger than previous Hitman games and this time, it is focused on an open-ended, sandbox-style gameplay, notes The Verge.
In a recent article by Forbes, Hitman is their most interesting game of 2016 saying it will be the first of its kind and a truly episodic AAA game. The latest Hitman game can be purchased for $15 on its initial release while the rest of the game released in succeeding episodes will cost $10 more for each pack.
Developed by Io-Interactive and published by Square Enix, Hitman is set to hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 11. A beta of the game is scheduled to launch for February 12 for PS4 and on February 19 for PC.
